As promised. I have been developing a new Book Art project. I have to give a shout-out to my talented niece, Krysta Snow, who first taught me how to do rebinds of books. I have modified and simplified what she taught me to make a craft that can be done in a hour but produces a lovely result. I use some basic materials--a craft covered journal (available on Amazon), cloth, glue, and scrapbook paper--to make a lovely cloth-covered journal that you can then decorate in a variety of ways. Here is a video tutorial that shows how to cover the journal. This is a picture of the book I covered in the tutorial. It is a blank journal and has a cloth covering and decorative paper endpapers. I have been having such fun with this the past few weeks.
Of course, this is only the foundation for many possible decorations. The first I did was an iron-on. It was super simple to make. I checked out a cricut machine from my local library (Did you know many libraries have them for check out?), found a free "note" cut to make, and then ironed it straight onto the cover.
Over the next couple of weeks I will share other ways I have decorated my cloth covered journals.
