I haven't posted in a while because I received some sad new (to me). My proposal to teach a workshop about book covering at the Salt Lake City Pinner's convention was rejected. I was looking forward to it, and had spent a fair amount of time preparing my proposal, but it is OK. I think my project wasn't unique or flashy enough for the conference. Now I will know better what they are looking for, I will know how to proceed better if I try again next year. Luckily you can learn how to do the cloth covered books checking out my blogs about it and this Youtube video
The good news for you is that I have turned my attention back to the mini books. I have created a new set of mini-books based on my favorite Jane Austen novels. Unlike my fairytale books, these don't contain summaries of the stories of the books, but some of my favorite quotes. As with the fairytale books, you simply need to:
1. Print pages 1 and 2 of the pdf double sided, with the page flipped on the shorter side.
2. Cut out each strip and fold like an accordion.
3. Print page 3 on cardstock and cut out each cover.
4. Make guide creases and then fold the cover into the shape of a book cover.
5. Glue the folded pages into the spine of the cover
6. Use sharp scissors or an exacto knife to cut the outside folded edges of the pages.
Stay tuned. I am planning on making more mini book patterns as part of a bigger project that I will reveal later.
